Clinical Mental Health Services

 

You may hear the terms therapy and counseling used interchangeably. In practice, both refer to working with a licensed mental health professional to address emotional challenges, relationship concerns, behavioral patterns, and overall mental wellbeing.

Professional counseling is provided by clinicians who hold graduate-level mental health licenses, such as Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs), psychologists, or psychiatrists. While psychologists typically hold doctoral degrees and psychiatrists are medical doctors, LPCs are specifically trained in counseling and therapeutic intervention.

The title may vary. The goal does not.

Whether someone calls it therapy or counseling, the work is focused on building insight, strengthening emotional skills, processing difficult experiences, and creating meaningful, sustainable change.
